Default First Impression Fine Superlite Slant

Just did a first shave with the Fine Superlite Slant DE. I loaded it with a fresh Feather blade and did a quick 4 pass shave. The lather was supplied by Haslinger's Sharfsmilch soap, also a first time use. All I can say is "wow" what a smooth shaving little inexpensive DE. It is fully capable of giving you a very close and comfortable shave. Do not be tempted to press on the blade to help it, it really does not need any assistance. Also find the right angle, which seems to be pretty easy to do, as you seem to be dealing with plenty of blade exposure. It also does not seem to clog easily and rinses clean easily. All in all it was $30.00 USD well spent.

I'm glad to hear that you liked it. I've used Astra SP and Polsilver blades in mine so far and both have been great. I haven't tried a Feather at all since The Great Face Mangle of 2015, but might give one a shot in the Fine.

I just tried the Feathers to see how bad they may have been in the Fine as they recommend Astra blades for it. I have used Feathers in my Merkur 37C slant without problems and the Fine Slant seems to shave as well as the Merkur with them. The Gillette Silver Blues and 7 O'clock Sharpedges (yellow box) seem to be a bit smoother than the Feathers for me.

I've found the Silver Blues and Astra's to be pretty comparable in both sharpness and smoothness, with the exception of the first shave on an Astra blade, which seems a tad rough. But at about half the price of the Silver Blues it's not a deal breaker.
I have one Silver Blue left. I'll be trying that and others in the Fine. It seems to turn any blade I've put in it into something a bit more forgiving.
