Default Still loving my GEM 1912

I've been shaving primarily with a straight razor for several months, but every now and then using a straight feels like work, so I'll break out a DE or(more and more often) an SE. My SE collection isn't very large yet. Just a couple of Schick injectors, the 1912, and an Ever-Ready 1914, but from the first time using it the 1912 gave me an excellent shave. Finding the angle was very intuitive, and I've yet to experience any irritation after shaving with it.

I just figured I'd promote a little love for the vintage SE's. Every one that I've used is a great shaver, and most can still be had for a song.

Yes, those SEs are great shavers. I found I prefer the Gem/Ever-Readys to the Schicks for some reason.

I friend of mine who was into straight razors bigtime, has switched to SEs, and claims they give him the best shaves.
That's not the case for me (I still prefer straights) but I have to admit they are good tools!

The 1912 is my favorite, but I've got a few great shaves in with one of the injectors too. It wasn't as easy to find the angle, but once I did the extra blade thickness gave a rigidity that was very similar to a straight. Still loving my Ralf Aust, and I've picked up a few vintage straights as well...and some hones and lapping film....and tons of soap...lol

My 1960s era Schick Injector is my go-to razor when I don't have a lot of time. With Ted Pella blades it is a wonderful little shaver.
