Adjustable DE shaving technique
I was wondering how DE adjustable razor users get the most from their adjustable razors.
I’ve been experimenting lately with different settings on a Gillette Fat Boy.
My question is,… should I turn up the level of aggressiveness on a second pass or would I be better to find a comfortable setting for all passes?
Is there an accepted method of adjustments for different passes??S.L.A.M.,.......SHAVE LIKE A MAN!!!

Thanked: 3225You can either just use one setting or adjust it for each pass. It is another of those "there is no really right or wrong way of doing it" things. Just experiment to see what works best for you.
Personally, I like to keep things simple and just use one setting for all passes which for me is #9. As usual, the more you dial up the aggression (blade gap) the better your angle and weight control must be.
Love those Fat Boy razors.

I keep mine on the same setting except when using a new blade. Then I will dial down to a lower setting for that shave.

Adjustable DE shaving technique
I have not adjusted my Gillette Aristocrat (gold plated Slim Adjustable) off of 3 for a very long time. It has a bent guide bar on one side so it's a bit wonky. As mentioned above different blades will act different in the same razor on the same setting.

Like Bob. Just keep mine on a 9, with any blade but. Have found my blade is a Feather, as far as adjusting, that just Takes a little time to figure your face and razor combo, if you do want to adjust for a second pass, I would go down so you can do buffing strokes without causing a rash. Good luck. Tc

This morning I did two passes with an Astra blade that had three previous shaves on it.
The razor was dialed up to nine on a short growth beard.
i could have easily gotten away with one pass but went for another.
The shave was very very close and yet comfortable.
Tomorrow i will try a Feather blade and report back.
great feedback......thanks gents.S.L.A.M.,.......SHAVE LIKE A MAN!!!

There ain't no wrong way to do it. Usually I set it and forget it, but sometimes I make adjustments according to how the shave feels. If I'm going to use aggressive techniques like buffing, I dial my Mergress down to 1.

I inserted a Feather blade into my FatBoy with the setting at nine.
As this was the my first experience with the Feather i was a bit nervous so i took my time, concentrated on technique and was rewarded with a very, very close shave.
Thanks for the feedback guys.........S.L.A.M.,.......SHAVE LIKE A MAN!!!
