Dating a Gem 1912
gentlemen,
it's been quite awhile since i've participated on our forums, i was unable to locate a preexisting thread.
how can i narrowdown the manufacture date on a Gem 1912? i've no real prior experience with SE razors, but i have just acquired a shiny one at a neighborhood yardsale.. it shaves wonderously and would love to know more about it.. below are some photos..
thank you!

Thanked: 3224Congrats, those are great shavers. If you can get ahold of some Personna GEM PTFE coated stainless steel blades they are really smooth.
I hope this helps Dating chart for your GEM/Ever-Ready/Star razor | TheShaveDen .

thanks Bob, i picked up a pack of blades at the local rite-aid.. i'm so used to feather blades that i did notice quite a bit of drag while shaving. they did however leave me feeling a kid again.

Thanked: 52The Gem Personna blades through Amazon and, I think, Walgreen's are quite serviceable; I use them in my 1912. Enjoy the razor!

That's a "squat head" 1912, it was made thinner than the regular '12's to fit in the cigarette style case. Best place to get the preferred blades is... GEM by Personna Stainless Coated Single Edge Razor Blades
Fantastic shaver with the right blades!

Many vendors!
You might try West Coast Shaving near you. Assure that you get the Coated Blades, big improvement over plain!Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.
