Right of passage
Today was for me an historic day. Today I taught my son to shave! He is only 12 but has dark hair and was getting a rather 70's looking 'stache.
Lined up 4 DE's (not gonna start him on a straight he is only 12 after all) Let him pick one. He chose a 1932 Gillette 3 piece. Then showed him how to take it apart, clean it. Remove a blade from the packaging and install it without getting cut (Tian Li blue blade, I find they are good for not cutting myself when I'm in a hurry). Dont really consider it necessary but as I have and use it so we put some Proraso pre-shave cream on. Trying to keep it simple we used shave cream instead of soap (Godrej sensitive skin) as I find it less effort to get a decent lather from creams. Told him to put the DE on the countertop and look at it eye level. Then to slowly lift the handle till he say the blade touch the counter to get an idea of the angle. Then it was off to the races.
He still had a bit of trouble finding the right angle and avoiding pushing the DE into his face but managed get a clean face without so much as giving himself a nick!
Yup I'm a proud father today!

It's nice to know he's on his way to carrying on the tradition. And will have a nice custom scaled razor, when dad passes it down.Mike

A once in a lifetime experience for your son. The knowing you have given your son an experience he will remember forever is such a soul-satisfying feeling.
