I've been looking at reviews on the web especially from experienced DE shavers. From what I can see they say it's a very expensive, mild razor and you can get closer shaves for way less money. It's being marketed to guys who are coming off an electric razor or use a Gillette cartridge and are flush with cash.

For my purposes, my Razorock Wunderbar gives me a shave essentially as close as a straight and very comfortable too. I'd hate to pay that kind of money for an inferior shave.

Well, after all I said I broke down and bought the Genesis. I guess I have to go and fill in the hole in my head.

After a few shaves I will say the results are equal to my wunderbar which is the closest shaver I have and rivals a straight. The difference is the shave takes a little longer because I need to do a few more passes to get the same result although the comfort factor is better with the Genesis so even with the added exposure I have no irritation issues at all. Obie pretty much covered everything and I agree with him in total so there isn't much to add. The price of the blades are what they are so you just need to be aware of that factor.

As far as the price goes if you factor in the fancy packaging and the nice leather travel case and the stand the actual razor is probably closer to around $250 by itself which is closer to premium razors and still way cheaper than the Wolfman for instance. You may not want the fancy stuff but you are getting it.

    Spendur,

I am glad you tried the OneBlade and experienced its benefits. The razor is habit forming for me, I must admit. It is on the mild side, yes, the upper end of mild, actually, but it gives an exceptional close shave wrapped in total comfort. That is important, especially if you shave every day, as I do.

For me, as said many times, it is comfort over perfect. In this case, I do get close to a perfect shave, even on my neck where the hair grows in crazy directions, but most importantly, I like the comfort my skin experiences. It takes a few shaves to learn the razor and enjoy the full benefits.

I like your price explanation. It makes sense. And as you say, the price of the blades is what it is. These are good blades that last me two shaves. If they help give me a close and comfortable shave, who's complaining? The razor comes with a classy presentation leather case, and that starts the razor's appreciation. I said the razor was habit forming. Now I reach, reluctantly, for my other safety razors. I really do recommend the razor — from personal experience — realizing, too, that it may not be for everyone.

One more thing I should mention: the OneBlade shave cream is also exceptional. It comes in the lavender scent. Initially, I thought it was made by Castle Forbes, as it is close to the great one in fragrance and performance, but was informed that it is not. Either way, it matches the razor and packaging in quality. I also like the OneBlade Tuxedo brush, a 19 mm knot, that creates luxurious lather and is sweet on the face. I also have the OneBlade stand, which I use for my Wolf Whiskers brush.

Yes, the OneBlade is a winner.

Loved the razor hated the blades. Prefer my Ambassador REX DE. Less money and uses standard DE blades.

The blades remind me of box cutter blades and they aren't that sharp which is why they recommend only two shaves per blade. I find even with a fresh blade I can really feel that blade working on my face.
