    Default Review-Timeless Razor

Folks tell me I'm older than dirt so what better razor to buy than a "Timeless Razor".

The razor is wholly made in Ohio by a family of machinists in their shop.

You have a choice of materials; Bronze, Titanium, and Stainless Steel. The Bronze and Titanium are limited in finish and handles. The Stainless comes in matt or polished with a bunch of handles to choose from and head designs including open and closed heads and blade gap of .95mm or .68mm. The Bronze is a bit different. All razors are fixed and the handles do vary in thickness and length. It is not an inexpensive razor however it is very well made and very well balanced and has plenty of heft.

I opted for the Stainless in Matt Finish with scalloped top, open comb head and .95mm blade gap with dimpled handle and stand. The matt finish gives it a workman like appearance-all business.

As I said it's very well balanced though heavy and feels great in the hand. The head covers the total length of the blade.

I have of late been using the Rex Razor and am very impressed with it in every respect. I wished the handle was a bit longer and the feel while shaving is a tad rough kind of like the steering on a sports car which gives great feedback. The Rex gives a very close shave and as it's adjustable you have many options in the aggressive department.

The Timeless is the smoothest DE I have ever used. It feels like there is no blade in the razor literally and that's open comb with .95 blade gap. It's more efficient than the Rex and in my case had no irritation or burn of any kind at all and that's with a feather blade. How close is the shave? It's beats the Rex and beats the R41 and comes closest to a straight that I thought possible. So close in fact that I might just as well take my straights and bury them in the backyard. (har har). Well maybe not.

It is really an impressive instrument. I didn't take photos since you can see it best on their website.

As I recall when I got the Mongoose I thought it was the best thing going and I said the same with the Rex and I'm saying the same with the Timeless. They keep improving these things and though the improvements seem to be small they make a big difference. If someone else comes along and improves on the timeless it's gonna have to shave just as good as a straight. I can't think of any other areas to improve upon at this point. It's so close to being perfect and the shave is better than 95% of a straight.

At any rate I would rate this at a solid five stars. If you are looking for a DE to add to your arsenal you should check it out.

Closer than a Mongoose? It’s statements like these that get me in trouble. The titanium option is nice too as I like a lighter razor. I haven’t touched a de in at least 2 years.

Thanks for the review, I think ink:

    Gentlemen,

Timeless is a super razor, as Spendur notes. I've had a series of these razors, open and closed comb, and found them all to be sweet shavers. Money well spent, indeed.

I tried mine with a Astra platinum blade for the first time today, wow this shave competes with my straights. I will try the feather blade next.

Thanks for the review. I’ve been looking at a bronze OC for a bit now. I might have to pull the trigger.

That was 3 years ago. There are new razors and models out these days. Check em all out. I have a timeless titanium and it is a great shaver.

Understood. Still, that open comb bronze razor is interesting. Just got a brass Karve Christopher Bradley I’m enjoying shaving with as well.
