How fast and at what rate does human hair gain moisture?
How fast does it loose that moisture at different humidity?
I am sure someone has done a study of this.
If no one can show this hasn't been done it sounds like a good application for grant money to me....

Found a few articles saying hair absorbs water, up to 30% of its weight, assuming healthy untreated hair, but nothing on the time it takes. I assume it happens more quickly with warm or hot water, that’s my own assumption from the amount of time my hair seems to absorb water.

Thanked: 49Shaving right after a shower is the best prep you can do imo. Many feel the same way. But i wouldnt shave in the shower with a straight. Too dangerous in too many ways.

Gentlemen,
Most of all, shaving in the shower sadly eliminates traditional shaving's colorful ritual — and practical. For me, after all these years of traditional shaving, also the romance of it.
It all starts with a hot shower, which helps prepare the beard for the next phase. Then comes lathering with a good shaving brush and a quality shave soap or cream.
The brush helps exfoliate the skin, lift the hairs and further soften them. The soap or cream complement the process with properties for beard preparation.
A well honed straight razor or efficient safety razor bring the process to a satisfying close.
I don't know, but I assume the OP uses a cartridge razor and some type of canned shave cream. In that case, I suppose, shaving in the shower is as good place as any.
