Open Comb - Closed Comb Conbination Head DE Razor
Aloha!
Anyone else try a combination OPEN/CLOSED Comb head DE razor? I am not a fan of Open Comb on EVERY part of my face. There are parts where a closed comb works better for me. A combo head razor seems like a good solution for me because there are parts of my face where I would like to use open comb, and parts I'd prefer closed I found a great deal on a dual head Open/Closed Combo on Ali Express that I ordered. I'd post a photo but my MHMTML to JPEG converter is not working today for some reason;

Every razor no matter the head configuration shaves differently so combo or not a different brand of single configuration may be what you are looking for. Of course that doesn't even begin to address the blade differences.
Personally, I've never used a combo and with some brands an open works great for me and others a closed works equally great.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanked: 14Though I've never been tempted to try one, I could see the Dual Comb attraction if one is sufficiently disciplined to flip the head around at different points during the shave. The other issue is whether you'd use both sides equally and the resulting effect on blade wear. I'd look for something of better quality than Alibaba if I was going to try, though I can't think of any good brands off the top of the head. Certainly Wolfman and Timeless offer them but those are pricey ..

Thanked: 557I won a Fendrihan branded razor with a open/closed comb head from Fendrihan a couple of years ago.
Have to admit I prefer my closed comb 34C and slant Merkur razors. Can’t say if that is because of the combo razor head or the build quality of the razor itself. It just does not compare favourably to the Merkur razors.
I notice that that particular razor no longer appears on their website.David

Thanks Gentlemen.
I am anxious to try the one I bought. I have used both my Open and Closed comb during the same shave sessions with success. I'm "hoping" that the combo razor will fit this bill without having to switch between razors. I have a thicker beard on my chin than I do anywhere else and an open comb just works better in that spot, whereas a closed comb is better suited to my neck and cheeks and above the lip.
I have to agree with DZEC that my Merkur 34c and Slant are among the best DE razors I own, but I also have an incredible solid bronze adjustable from AliExpress that is actually quite nice.
Well, in two weeks or so the razor will be here and I can see if it works for me. Any of us that have wet shaved for decades obviously know that every razor and every blade is different. So too is every skin type and beard structure. And, as important, the individuals shaving STYLE comes into play. Some guys just think they have a sledgehammer in their hands that needs to clear the field with force. Others use finesse more elegantly."I get some lather and lather-up, then I get my razor and shave! Zip Zop, see that? My face Is ripped to shreads!"
