Thanked: 4After approx 6 years, I finally got it
Hey everyone, so I finally figured out after almost 5 - 6 years of off and on wet shaving, what was causing all of the millions dots of blood on my neck and why I couldn't go against the grain.
Well I know this may sound really lame and sad that after 5 years I finally figured it out, but my problem was really overstretching my skin especially my neck, I mean I would tilt my head as far as I could go while seeing myself shave in mirror. So one I day I just left my skin normal just holding my head straight, and that's when I realised I am was able to go against the grain without a single drop of blood. Which to me made me throw out the proglide finally.

Thanked: 3226Good to see you posting again and with good news too. Yes, not everything works for everyone. You have to experiment to find out what works for you. I hope you continue to enjoy your shaves.

Thanked: 4827It’s true. Not everyone can use the same techniques and to find shave perfection does require a wee bit of experimentation. My experience is nearly opposite to yours which reenforces that we need to experiment.

Congrats! Glad you figured out the secret for yourself. I have spots I cant stretch and others that need lots of stretching. It takes effort to figure out all the different parts of the face. Stretch or not or just a little. all the different directions you can shave. Wouldn't it be nice if one way took care of everything?
It's just Sharpening, right?

I find, with a DE I don't have to stretch at all to get a perfect shave however if I tried that with a straight I'd probably be enroute to the emergency room.

Congratulations on your eureka moment. I believe that if we are wise and humble we never stop learning. For myself at least I find that I learn something new every day in a trade I have been in all my life. Shaving is something that most of us have been doing for at least half our lives. Why shouldn't we learn new things about that as well?
