    Default First impression Rockwell 6S

Had my first shave with my new Rockwell 6S this morning. Using the #6 base plate I got a very close and comfortable 4 pass shave. No noticeable different to the shaves I was getting from my Rockwell 6C other than the 6S being heavier in the hand being made of stainless steel. The 6S is matt finished not polished which is not a detriment to me and helps keep the razor at a more affordable price point I suppose.

I'm well satisfied with the 6S and the all stainless steel construction is a step up from the 6C imho.

Very much what I found Bob. It’s feel in the hand is an improvement over other lightweight alloy DEs. You don’t feel like you have to bear down on the skin to get a close shave because the weight of the razor is sufficient.

Appreciate your critique of the razor.... but "four pass shave"? Did I read that right? I have shaved with straights, safety, double edge, injector razors and broken beer bottles (gotta find the sharpest edge). But "four pass shave "??

    I couldn't do that.

I have also shaved with straight razors and DEs/SEs. The 4 pass shave is what I do with them. In the end you do the number of passes you are comfortable with and that gives you the results you want be it a single pass or multiple ones. Each to their own.

I do 4 passes on my neck. Its the only way to get it all. When it grows in all directions.

Yup, me too. 2 passes on the face and sometimes 4 on the neck. The last two passes on the neck are often with a DE since I can’t quite get all the swirly beard hairs there with the straight.

I've found it depends on the razor. Something like the feather DS series which is a very mild razor requires multiple passes while a razor like the Janus or the Timeless which are way more aggressive take less even with the same blade.
