I have an aluminum razor called "The Standard". it's very plain looking devoid of any decoration including the handle which makes it kind of slippery. In the end it was just another one of "those razors" that went into the drawer.

Thanked: 556As I mentioned in my previous post, the Henson shave with the Feather blade was close and comfortable. More after shave comfort than with my Merkur with a Gillette blade and closer than my Rockwell with plate 6 and a Wilkinson blade.
Stubble did start to reappear much sooner than after a shave with a straight razor - I’d say about 4 hours earlier.
If I need to do a quick full shave or a clean up before going out, it is a very good option. Not nearly as much fun or as satisfying as the whole process of a nice, leisurely straight razor shave, but certainly a practical option.David

With a feather blade i can see it working well at least 3 good shaves as the keeness of a feather will make up the difference of no weight.

I like Nacets and number 6 on my Rockwell.
I have a few Feathers so i put one in, adjusted down to number 4 because I didn't feel very brave.
I don't know if it is because i used 4 instead of 6 but I think the Nacets are better. They feel nearly as sharp as the Feathers to me but more comfortable and I get 7 shaves out of one.- - Steve

Thanked: 3226No, I don't think you the Nacets compared to the Feather blades. My experience says the Feather blades take a couple of shave to smooth out and don't last as long as the Nacents no matter what razor you put them in. I'll take smooth over ultra sharp any day.

I know we are getting lff topic here but...
Bob, have hou ever tried corking a feather to see if it smooths it out without loosing the amount of shaves? I can get 4 good shaves from a feather. But the first one is not as smooth as the rest. It's just Sharpening, right?

Thanked: 3226No, I have not tried corking a blade to smooth it out. For what Feather blades cost compared to the Derby Extras I use, why should I have/want to to go to the trouble of corking a blade to smooth it out and then get less shave from it compared to the 7 I get from the Derby Extras without corking?

This corking thing started on the B&B site several years ago and it started much controversy.
I use Feathers with all my razors as the main blade and I never thought they needed any alleged treatment. I was never a fan of "corking".
I was always of a mindset smoothness was a razor thing more than a blade thing. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

I have one of the original Tradere Open Comb razors. It's a fairly aggressive razor IMO, but not radically so. My Blackland Vector is a better shaver, and it's stupidly easy to use.
