    Default Rockwell 6c

    My Rockwell 6c is gunmetal.

I've noticed that the edge of the top cap, where it rubs my skin looks like the gunmetal is starting to wear off and I can just about see what looks like brass starting to show.

I am a bit disppointed because although it almost certainly won't make any difference to the shave even if all the gunmetal wore off, I've had it less than a year and I really don't use it often.

I don't shave off the top so to speak, I hold the razor angled down so I can actually feel the blade on my face but the top must still rub me too I suppose.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Hi Steve. I was just looking at Rockwells website. If you contact them with your issue along with pics, they might give you a replacement cap. I don't think the coating should wear down like that. Hope this helps.

Now that you mention it, Mine looks a little foggy on both sides of the top cap. Maybe 4mm wide.

Contact them Steve and let me know what they say. BTW, Yes, Mine is Gunmetal too. I bet I've had 30 shaves with it.

No problem with my top cap. It could be soap residue so try a damp cloth and rub it to see if it disappears.

To find the correct angle for a DE, place the top cap on your face with the handle parallel to the floor. Rotate the handle downward till you just feel the blade. Even the the top cap is in some contact with your face. If it weren't you'd be scraping the whiskers off more than cutting them. That would be very uncomfortable on your face.

Heres the issue, it isn't bad and hopefully won't get worse.

I'm sure it won't stop it shaving well but I will contact Rockwell. I'll let you know what they say.

I cant imagine I've had many shaves with it either, maybe 50, mostly because I was checking out the different blades you sent me to see which (Nacets) ones I liked best.

    "Dear Sir/Madam,

I bought a Rockwell 6c in gun metal from Amazon last year 21st September 2021.

I have noticed that the gun metal finish is wearing off from the edges of the top cap.

Although I enjoy shaving with a Safety razor, I have used it less than 50 times as it is mainly my backup and I usually shave with a straight razor.

I am disappointed that the finish is wearing off after so little use.

I can send you a photo is you would like to see the issue I am experiencing.

I thank you in advance for your assistance.

    Regards
    Steven Fraser".

Their website does say they warranty their razors for 60 days and after that they can supply replacement parts, I would be hugely PO'd if they sold me another top cap and the same happened again.

I used it maybe 50 times so far, if I were starting to shave with a straight I would be advised that I need twice that just to get comfortable using one so I don't think that 50 shaves is a lot on a razor that I should in theory be able to use for the rest of my life and even pass on eh.

I just got a reply from Rockwell, that was quick.

I'll send the photo and pay the $10 shipping, fingers crosses it doesn't happen again but I'll probably keep the new one unused for if I eventually need it.

I suppose, getting a 6S should solve any disappearing coating problem.
