Rotbart Mond-Extra
I've been looking to add a Gillette New Style, Short Comb to my collection but people want a lot more for the short combs and I don't know why. They are not easy to find either. So I found a guy selling this Rotbart and it's a 3-piece with a long stem on the top cap, a Long screw knob that goes up inside the handle, and a thick plate with the full groove, just like the Gillette I was looking for. This one was a more reasonable price so I thought I give it a try.
Smooth and shaved well. I wouldn't call it aggressive at all but it took the whiskers off easy and more effectively. I think I might have been able to do one pass less if I wanted. No weappers and the A.S. didn't punish me at all. With the S.V. soap, I found it to be a pleasurable shave. I am very happy I bought it.
Still looking for a couple of New Short combs so if you have one you want to part with let me know.
The Top Cap is a little warn but being a pre-war razor (1930 - 1940) it is Silver Plated so the rest of it polishes up nice. It's just Sharpening, right?

Thanked: 81Hey you’re lucky, that one’s in great condition. Usually the plating is gone. I don’t really use DEs anymore, but I really like my Rotbarts, even if they’re all beat up.
Did yours come with the tin case?

No. Not tin case. And i seen some come as a SB too. Id never heard of them before. But they sure too after the Gillette of that era. I might have to find a couple more in different options.

Thanked: 81From what I understand, they were the big name in the German market, and then Gillette bought them out. Which explains why the designs are so similar.

I didn't know this. I will have to do some research.
I found a thread over at another forum where Mr. Razor had a collection of these razors. Not a lot on the details but nice to see a half dozen different models.
Does anyone here have a Rotbarts to share a picture?Last edited by Gasman; 07-14-2022 at 12:58 PM.
