Thanked: 0New DE user..hooked
I've ben lurking around this forum for a while, and I bought a Merkur adjustable color dot model, brush, shaving soap...
I will NEVER, EVER use a cartridge razor again. I cannot thank you all on this forum enough... I feel I've been duped. I'm 34 and have never used a DE and just grew up with cartridge & electric... and I thought that was a good shave; WOW was I wrong.
I'm buying 10 blades for $1.60, and they are shaving closer, smoother, and do not pull at all...its a whole new paradigm. I'm getting a closeness shaving I've never felt before. I'm so happy now, and enjoy shaving.
Now, I need to buy another DE bacause after feeling my face my wife is using my DE... go figure...

Welcome.
Yes RAD comes in all forms.
Wait till you get into SEs then the real fun begins.
When you graduate to Straights. Oh the fun.
If you buy and SE here is what you will be getting into. 3 blade choices instead of 50. Much easier to find one that fits your face. Consistency, yes 1912 Everreadys shave as good as Gems. Smoothness, and practice for str8s. Schick injectors. Yeah now thats the stuff.
Get your wife a Lady Schick with hydromagic, and she will drop your DE.

i gave my dad a Gillette Fatboy for chirstmas and he had the same reaction, he will never go back. so i gave my brother in law a gillette slim for his birthday and he had the same reaction. i did however give my friend one for is birthday and he really doesn't like it, complains that is jams up because he only shaves like twice a week and the hairs are long, i told him to shave more often, but he shrugged it off.
for sure try out the Schick Injectors if you can, i like mine. if i couldn't use a straight razor i wouldn't even consider cartridge razors, it would be DE all the way.

he is a great friend and we have been friends for 18 years but i think i know him too well. he has a bit of a short attention span and very little patience so i don't think a straight razor would be right for him. i showed him a couple of mine but he wasn't really interested. he is the type where if i could get him hooked on the DE then he would use it for the rest of his life without any other thought, but getting him to spend the time thinking about it and learning the prep (i know its not complicated) and the little tricks is the hard part. he might come back to it in the end. lets hope.

Congrats on the new razor. It sounds like you got a Mergress (adjustable Progress). If so, you picked a great razor. Now just comes all the ADs as enter the world of soaps, brushes, creams, DE blades, etc.
