Thanked: 0Help Identifying some DE's
Hello,
It's my first post here. I have come across some DE's my grandfather once used. If you all could, please help me identify these. I believe these are all Gillettes. One Looks like a late 1950's blue tip super speed, while another looks like the late 50's flare tip super speed.
I am unsure of the other though. My terrible cell phone camera pictures are not of much help, but I tried to take a picture of the markings on the one razor. On the topmost part of the handle, little "stars" are etched in. The design looks 1960's to me. I've gone through the ShaveWiki, but cannot find it. Any ideas?
EDIT: Based on the info on the ShaveWiki, I found that my razor had a "K" stamp which means it is dated to 1965. Did Gillette have different 'designs of the time' on their razors?Last edited by SongOfMyself; 10-27-2009 at 07:48 AM.

First one is a Lady Gillette. They came in dark or light blue, pink, and champagne colors. The other two are super speeds as you said. Mid 50s to mid 60s. Would need date codes to be exact. Blue tip has aluminum handle and is quite mild as a shaver.

Thanked: 0Thank you for the clarification. So, the first one is probably my grandmothers? Ha, interesting.
There was also a Schick Krona in the bunch, which I cleaned up and used last night. I liked it quite a bit and read that it is a small bit more aggressive than the Super Speeds.

actually the lady gillette shaves really nicely. I personally dont like the flare tip SS's.
clean up and give the lady gillette a try, you'll be surprised!

I have the same razor as in the top photo, as posted above it is a Lady Gillette. I think mine is from the 1960's, well, I say it's mine but it's actually my girlfriends. It shaves just the same as a Superspeed though, it just has a slightly longer handle and pretty stars.
