Blade sampler packs in EU?
So, I just sniped a Gilette Fatboy off the 'Bay and now need some blades. It's my first DE and will likely be my straight stand-in and travel razor (you can still take them as carry on, right?), so won't be the primary beardmower. I saw that there are a bunch of shops in the US that have good sampler packs, but is there anything in the EU that's recommended? I'm interested in trying out a whole bunch of brands, cheapies and expensive ones too, it's the shaving that counts of course.

I'm not sure about still being able to take them in your carry on luggage.
Anyway Shave Shack do a sampler pack.

I was under the impression that a DE would be OK. Oh well, we'll see. Otherwise I'll just look scruffy when going out for a few days. ;D
Thanks for the link, I'll check the shipping and pop in an order.
edit: Not yet sure whether I'll order. The shop gives me an unpleasant feeling. Could be just me of course.Last edited by Hillie; 11-01-2009 at 01:22 AM.

Just found an 80 blade pack from the UK on ebay, with a good shipping price, so I put that in. It's got:
10 of each of Dorco 301, Derby Extra, Feather New Hi Stainless, Iridium Extra Super Stainless, Treet Durasharp Carbon, Trig Silver Edge, Treet Platinum and finally Personna Platinum Chrome.
Any others I should definitely have a look at at some point in time? This'll keep me busy for a while anyway.

Thanked: 137Connaught Shaving (UK based) do a bunch of samplers of up to 240 blades, depending on which sampler you buy.
Bullgoose shaving (US based) also does some decent samplers and is a great guy to deal with.
Regarding the carryon baggage, you might be able to get away with it as long as you remember to take the blade out and not carry any blades in your carry on baggage. If you can prove to them that there's no blade in it and therefore no risk, I don't see a reason why you couldn't take it on. That said though, they can be pretty darn strict on some of the things you can't have. I'd try it out with a cheap DE you don't mind having confiscated before you try it with the Gillette one, just in case they do take it off you.

Try the Badger and Blade Buy/Sell/Trade section.

I can vouch for Connaught too. They have an online shop, & sell on the bay too.
Customer service is very good, & they're friendly & helpful.

Funny to see the connaught name, as I picked up a sample pack from him on ebay. I didn't know he had a shop, and a google search pointed me to his ebay offering.
I pinged him and asked if he can 'upgrade' my purchase to the 120 pack from his just-discovered (thanks guys!!) webshop. Looking at the service ratings here, I hope that'll work out.Last edited by Hillie; 11-01-2009 at 10:31 AM.

Sampler Packs in EU . . .
My dear Hillie,
May I recommend Connaught Shaving in the Uk? I have dealt with owner Paul many times and find his prices and service excellent. He also has a wide range of razor blade brands, including sample packs.
Regards,
Obie
