Thanked: 137Pulled the plug!
A while ago I decided to buy myself a DE for those days when I don't have time for a full straight shave. Today I finally made my purchase as an early Xmas present to myself - I bought an Edwin Jagger 89 DE from the English Shaving Shop, which comes with 5 Derby blades for me to use until I can buy the massive razor blade sampler I have my eye on over at Connaught shaving. As a end-of-final-exams treat, I also splurged on a little something for my SCAD - a sample of their Edwin Jagger Sea Buckthorn SC (not sure if I'll like the scent, so just a sample there) and a tube of Edwin Jagger Sandalwood SC (I know I like sandalwood, so I figured I'll like this scent - if not I'll PIF it to a n00b).
Thanks to the free shipping they have at the moment, it only cost me $41.96US, which is a rather good deal IMHO for all the goodies I'm getting. Should arrive some time next week hopefully, so will be able to open it up right after I move into my new accommodation for the summer.
The picture below is the razor in question - I believe it to be an EJ 89, although it's hard to be sure without the model number on the website.

I hope my massive sampler pack will arrive in the mail today. I picked up a Gillette Fatboy as a travel razor and for quickies during the week (tendency to sleep long and then not shave ).
The EJ shavers look nice. I picked up a brush from them, and it's a very nice quality grip on there. You should be fine with it.

Congrats on the EJ DE razor. I have two with their new head design and really like them.

My dear Mosley59,
Congratulations on the Edwin Jagger 89L. Not only is that a great razor, but the workmanship of it is impeccable. Good choice.

It is an 89. I had one and sold it earlier this week on B&B, figuring I was completely done with a DE since straight shaving takes me about 5 minutes longer, bring my grand total for shower and shave up to 25 minutes. I figured I can probably handle that, so the DE stuff had to go. 2 lucky guys got great deals on the EJ and about 75 Shark Super Chrome blades.
The best part: I bought some shaving soap the same day. It came with DE blades. I now have blades again, but no razor. Might have to pick up a cheap one somewhere near home.

Thanked: 137I received this yesterday - three working days for it to get from England to literally the other side of the world. Very impressive. Used it today with the supplied Derby blades - closer shave than my straight has been giving me lately. Clearly I need to work on my straight technique somewhat.

Haha, in your defense it really is probably the best DE in the history of DEs. At least I liked the more than any other, and I tried all the vintage standards (the Fatboy, Tech, New, Superspeed, Slim, I even had a Gillette Milord)
