Thread: In search of youth

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I am in search of a 1962 Gillette super speed razor. It is a gift for my brother. He started longing for the shave he had as a teenager after experiencing "a moment of total clarity". Funny how years tend to make us do that. Search for the things that give us our youth if only in our minds eye. But then again I ramble. I don't know much about Sf Rz seeing as i use straights but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Correct razor, wrong year. He wants a 1962. Same year he was born. Appreciate the help though.

haha, I had done something similar for myself sometime ago.

When I was a kid, snuck in to my parents bathroom, cut my face up trying to shave with his super speed. I too shopped ebay to get that SS razor with the date code, to the same quarter, when I was born, figuring that'd be close to the one he had.

Since I never did get a chance to shave right by it back then, it's good to shave clean with it whenever I pick it up now.

Well, one thing to help is that the date code under the head would start with an "I". Good luck with the search! You might look at a couple of the more DE oriented fora, like The Shave Den or Shave My Face.

Gillette super speed. described as 1960s model but also says it has a G and a 2 on it. Possibly a date code for '62. Item number 160417562763. Bidding ends April 2. Hope this helps. Good luck
