I really like my Merkur 34C, especially when combined with a Feather blade.

Over the past couple of years, I have grown extremely fond of my Gold HD. It does everything I need, plus I now have my Dads old razor and my beginner razor from the 70's retired to just look at and play with.

I like my Merkur 34C but have a feeling that I can get an even better shave so I bought a 39C (haven't received it yet).

How do you shave differently with the 39C?

I agree, a very subjective question.

For myself, I have tried numerous Vintage Gillette's and 2 top razors are the "Gillette New Improved" and "British Gillette Aristocrat #21."

    Both with Crystals.

I've tried a few different razors, fixed and adjustable but I always seem to go back to my open comb Merkur "1904" with IP blades.
