Thanked: 0A million "thank you's"
I'd like to thank Batmang for opening the world of DE shaving to me. He helped me out with a razor, brush, and a small "sample pack" of blades and I took off from there. Now I own a Merkur 34c and have a huge sampler pack of blades!! (though now I have a soap problem, too many of em!)
The days of $4 carts are gone, and great mornings started with a DE shave are here

Thanked: 1195DE's are the best alternative, aren't they?
Let us know what kind of blades you got in your sampler and what you think of them as you use them.

Thanked: 11I have a Merkur too (23C) essentially the same as yours but just a little longer. It's funny that you mention that you have too many soaps - just today I went back to my Colonel Conk and found it can make a really great lather dare I say better than some of the expensive stuff I've had
Combined with Gillette 7 O'Clock yellows it really is a difference from the disposables from the dollar store, (boy what a great deal I thought I was getting)

Yes indeed...Those DE razors certainly make a difference. Congratulations.
And thanks to Batmang for assisting you in your entry into the world of DE razor shaving."Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." Mark Twain

Thanked: 6It's nice to hear others having such good, new experiences with DEs. I have just really started to have truly far superior results as compared to using disposable razors and canned shaving gel. Hardly no irritation and extremely smooth shaves that last all day. And the wife loves it too!
I have a Merkur 33C and have been using Classic Shaving's brand of soap. I have found Feather and Israeli Personna Red blades to be the best thus far.
Maybe a straight razor is in my future...

Welcome home!
DE razors are quite nice to have, specially after you get a small collection of nice ones to pick from.Last edited by Vekta; 06-04-2010 at 08:42 AM.
