My Girlfriend Is Considering A DE
She was asking me if you could keep it in the shower. I wouldn't imagine it being a very good idea, but I figured I'd ask first. Note: our water (Mississippi's) is soft, so calcium buildup isn't much of a problem.

Thanked: 1936Moist environment of the shower & the carbon steel of the blades...probably not, but I'm a straight user. I'm sure some DE users will chime in. I doubt it would hurt the actual razor, but the blade would suffer I'm sure.

Thank you and God Bless, Scott

I don't think it'll be a problem. I keep my DE in the bathroom, not too far from the shower and never ran into problems. My wife actually switched from cartridges and can't be happier. I usually give her a new blade that I'll replace right after she's done since we are sharing the same razor.
So the bottom line would be to change the blade regularly and given how cheap they are, it shouldn't be much of an issue. If you're really concern that the blade might get wet for a long period of time because of recurring showers, then just place it a bit far from the shower when not in use. Otherwise, using a DE while showering is not a concern.
PS: This is my first post so hello everyone I'm just a regular guy dying to transition to SR

Ah no, she's considering one for herself. I've actually been away for a few months, but I've been straight shaving and a member for almost a year. I've given her legs a straight shave a few times and she's seen the light. She's considering getting a DE for herself and wanted me to ask the question on her behalf.

I leave my DE in the shower to dry out between uses and it has not been a problem for me. Just make sure it's stored in an area that drains well and it doesn't sit in a puddle of water or the blade will rust

My wife keeps her's in the shower. It does not seem to hurt it and the blade lasts pretty much as long as when kept out of the shower.
This have been about 3 months now.

Thanked: 66Good Man!
My wife still uses my first SE with SS blades n AOS rose cream..after years of plastic blades she got tired of nicking herself..not always..but in general plastic 5 blades (Venus) aernt very smooth..she only uses em if she is in a rush to go to work...tell her to take it slow so her hands get a feel for the angles..this is true for ANY de/se/srt8 razor
good luck
