Merry Christmas to me!
Hello everyone, I usually shave with a straight razor but have been wanting to try out DE shaving so i decided I would buy myself a little Christmas gift. I just ordered a Merkur HD 34C razor from Fendrihan, Classic Wet Shaving Store. Hopefully their will be good shaves to come !

Merry Christmas to Me
Hello, seconddark:
And a Merry Christmas, indeed. The Merkur 34C has a cult following. Despite its short handle, the razor has plenty of heft. Also, I like the thickness of the handle. You've made a good choice.
Regards,
Obie

Merry Christmas to Me
Hello, Seconddark:
Treat the double edge with respect. You will use many of the straight razor techniques here. Keep the pressure light. Avoid going over the same spot excessively. Shave in passes to reduce the beard. Don't take your eyes off the razor. Experiment with different blades and see which works best for your. Most of all, take your time and embrace the ritual.
Regards,
Obie

Thanked: 14Merry Christmas Seconddark. Great suggestions on the use of a DE. From everything I've read and heard, the 34C is an excellent choice.

Thanked: 983Yes, I am one of that Cult following that Obie has mentioned. I only use my 34c occassionally, but it sits up there in pride of place beside the Cutthroat razor stand.
