I've also had good results with most of the blades that I have tried. If I had to pick a favorite it would be either an Astra or a Merkur blade. Sampler is the way to go and as many of the posters have indicated, it's mostly about personal preference.

Feathers are ultra-sharp, and they work great for me in an adjustable dialed down to 3 or 4.

Absolutely, get a sample pack of blades from any of the vendors mentioned by the other guys. I have alternated my shaves with the Dovo Best straight razor and the Merkur Progress DE for a while now and it is the best of both worlds. I started with a sample pack from West Coast and went from there.

I have found most of the blades do a good job but not all of them. I especially like the Feathers and the Personna (red) blades. They really only last 3 maybe 4 shaves and that is it. So what?! It is a much better shave than any $3-4 cartridge razor will give and is so much cheaper no matter which blade you choose. It is basically an in vivo experiment. And a cool one at that. You will know which blade your face likes and doesn't like. Then you go from there.
