Excellent decision ! Research the choices and try to adapt to you straight shaving experience. I myself have a tendency to apply a lite pressure to my blade. Bad technique I know. But I've found I do best with a razor with less heft. (ie. techs, ss, Gem's, vintage merkur slants, hollow ground straights) I do poorly with heavy razors (ie. EJ's, merkur hd, fatboy's, Ikon's, vintage big wedges even though I love wedges.). Once you know you skills, you just have to match your skills to the razor. Or be able to adapt to the razor. Good Luck on finding the perfect razor for your technique. there's lots of choices out here and you need to keep an open mind.
