Thanked: 2591if I am not wrong just the handle bar is thicker for more comfortable grip. The head should be identical.

My friend Mainaman is correct: the shave head is the same, but the handle nice and thick for a solid grip. This is a famous razor and highly regarded.

I've got the standard one and it's great. I highly recommend it!
Well made, affordable and looks good. What more could you ask for?

Why can I not find the Merkur HD 34c on Amazon thats available for free shipping? LOL.
I had me a whole cart full of items such as Tweezerman brush, Col Conk Lime soap, Merkur blades, and they were all up for free shipping but not the razor I'm wanting. Found a Merkur 180 I believe for free shipping but...
Guess I'll keep looking...Last edited by PWillis; 05-05-2011 at 08:05 PM.

Hello, PWillis:
West Coast Shaving Merkur 34C Heavy Duty Safety Razor has the Merkur 34C at $39 with free shipping. I've dealt with these folks a lot and they are good people.

Ya, I see that but I believe its free shipping on orders over $80.
I've got a company credit card that they give all employees that if we go 30 days without an accident or incident they load it with $50. Well, I'm thinkin I have like $67 on it now. Amazon has certain items with free shipping, and west coast doesn't have all the items I'm wanting, lol. Still browsing. Guess thats the point of shopping.

Yes, on orders over $80. That specific razor — and I think the Merkurs in general — is offered with free shipping at its current price. Take another look — that is if you want to, my friend.

You can also try Best Grooming Tools, BullGoose Shaving and Vintage Blades. They all carry the Merkur HD.
One advantage of purchasing from Best Grooming Tools is that you get fifteen free de razor blades when you purchase a de razor from them. If you add a decent shaving brush, cream and/or soap and aftershave/cologne that ought to get you way over $80.00; and you have fifteen razor blades to boot.
I believe that their free shipping is on orders of $100 though."Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." Mark Twain
