King Razor, Brass, DE spotted in an antique store.
I'm in Pasadena for a few days and stopped by an antique store. Their straights were worm-eaten garbage but I spotted a DE.
Marks on the bottom say "King Razor" and it appears to be Brass and in decent condition.
The top has a hinge on one side and a locking mechanism on the other. I assume the dials on top let you adjust the aggressiveness.
I'm not sure if this is a good deal or not (I'm a straight user), but I thought I would post it here. I'll be here for the next few days, so if a member really goes ga-ga over it, I can buy it for you and sell it for cost. You just reimburse me and pay shipping.

That razor is known as the “King Osculating Razor”. The one you pictured is really not in that good of condition for the price. They were not made for very long but if you want to collect a piece of razor history I would look around some more as you will find them in much better condition and a good price.
These razors used a specially made blade so you can’t use any of the standard DE blades that can be purchased today. That was this razors biggest downfall.
The dials/rollers on the head of this razor actually made contact with the face as the person shaving made their passes. The rollers would drive a slide bar that attached to the blade making it move back and forth creating an osculating motion. This was thought to give a better shave by giving a sort of slicing action.

Thanked: 9I picked up one of these a few years ago at a antique store, no blades though, so it just sits looking at me.
