Gilette Slim Vs EJ Barley
Well I went to use a feather blade in my EJ today and found it really didn't like it. After one pass I had almost no whiskers gone.. In fact I looked like I had the Miami Vice 2 day growth neatly trimmed down. I thought well that sucks!!! I switched the blade into my Gillette Slim and dialed it to 7. 2 pass BBS! I could not believe the difference in shaves from one DE to the other. It was so opposite in shaves I was amazed. The feather really performed well in the Gillette and could not have been nicer. Very close and smooth. Anyone else ever find such polar opposites one blade in a different DE razors?

Thanked: 9I also have a Gillette slim, and love the thing when it's set to 7.
I find huge differences between my Merkur and Slim. Personnas are silky smooth in my Merkur, but slightly harsh in my Slim. Sharks are a bit harsh in my Merkur, but smooth in my Gillette. It's pretty weird, but it works.

There is definitely something wrong with that picture. My EJ Barley is pretty much my best shaver. I have a fat boy and it beats it hands down. Only the feather razor with the feather blade can equal it. If you shaved and it left whiskers something is amiss.

Just a thought.
It is easy to insert the base plate upside down on the EJ and that would give the result you describe. Don't ask how I know!Regards

You have the baseplate upside down on the EJ. Try again

Paul, my dear friend, something is wrong with this picture, indeed. I dare say the picture hangs crooked on the wall. I have both the Gillette slim adjustable and the gorgeous Edwin Jagger "Chatsworth" barley. The Edwin Jagger has yet to fail to handle any blade, including the Feather. Yes, you could have had the base plate upside down by mistake. I suggest try the razor again. The "Chatsworth" barley is too beautiful a razor not to perform. Stay well.

Thanked: 9Personally, I love when it's a simple solution to an annoying problem... :-)
