Thread: Schick injector question...

Got a schick injector a couple months ago. I pulled the "spring"? to the side and opened the blade holder area up to do some cleaning/polishing. Month's later I finally sprung for some ted pella injector blades. so now I have the key the blades, razor etc. all together now. The problem is the blade is resting on the tabs but the holder moves up and down with the blade. The blade is staying in place. I'm thinking when I did my cleanup and moved/forced the "spring" to the side I took some tension /pressure away from the "spring". I have no experience with injectors, is it normal for there to be wiggle in the head of the razor? I'm talking about the two parts that hold the blade. Should I have never moved the "spring"? or is this all normal? I shaved with it, and it worked great. Just trying to get information on correct operation of these razors, what's normal what's not...Thanks! I tried looking for vids but they were all shaving demo's not the mechanic's of the razor

I've run into a similar problem myself. I haven't yet dedicated a lot of time to fixing it yet (I have a ton of injectors that I've found, most of which do not have a moveable spring). If all else fails, you could easily find a replacement. Injectors are as common as grass.

I'll see what I can do with the ones I have at home tonight. If I come up with a fix, I'll let you know.

I shaved with it for the second time this evening and it seems to work . No nicks or cuts, the blade seems to be staying in place. I'm not going to get to excited about it. It's funny how when you get something new, you think you know how it works and you find out your wrong. Patience I guess...

Some of the earlier ("E" model ?) Schicks had a tab that could be rotated to the left to open the razor; later this tab was held with a central pin, and these are not designed to ble opened in this fashion. The later HydroMagics could be opened by IIRC a lever.

This cropped up a few months ago when someone reported he was in the act of getting an "E". I mentioned that some of the razors have spring tabs which do not rotate (one of mine is like this); they should not be forced if there is any resistance as I reckon this will kill the razor. Great shavers.
