Gillette President question.
So I was at an antique store where i bought a sweet red-point straight..the guy asked me when i was looking at the other shaving products if i liked DE razors.. to him i replied ecstatically, "HECK YES!" he walked me to an old display case where he pulled out a mint condition Gillette President. EVERYTHING WAS BRAND NEW. down to the DE blades.. it came with the 10 blade "blue blade" dispenser and the little 5 blade packet of gillette DE blades still in the cellophane. The dispenser was so new that it still had the fresh sheen of new plastic! The carrying case still had the plastic inner support and even the cardboard box! As for the razor..MINTY! never seen a DE razor so new looking that was vintage.. it looked better than any ed jagger or murker I've ever seen! is it worth it? I know something is only worth what someone would pay for it.. its a bit out of my budget but if its hard to find a razor like that in that sort of condition, ill get it! its a Y2 date btw. thanks!

I suspect guys who collect, if given a chance to buy a mint razor with original packaging would snap that up fast.

Indeed. The light cardboard shipping carton is almost always missing. Heck, they were just thrown away.
$115 for a mint President with case and shipping carton? I'd buy it in a New York minute.
Excellent shavers to boot!!

Hello, vvti713,
The Gillette President is a coveted razor. If the one in question is in mint condition with all the original accoutrements, I concur with the other gentlemen to grab it. Stay away from those old Gillette Blue Blades, though, because they're rough and make for an unpleasant shave. There is something to be said about modern blades with their platinum coating and all.

Thanked: 1195Out of curiosity, if it was such an agonizing decision to buy this prized razor why are you immediately (as in same day) trying to flip it in the classifieds for a very premium price?
