Anyone try the Muhle R89?
It's a bit more expensive than similar safety razors but I've tried a few other Muhle products and was very pleased, which is why I'm thinking about spending a bit more for the good looking R89. Anyone have experience with it?

The R89 is a well regarded DE, Muhle makes top notch stuff. I have the R41, a very aggressive model, yet a fantastic shaver used right.

eflatminor,
The Muhle heads are excellent; I have a Muhle R109 & R41 and they are very, very nice DE razors
Have fun !
Best regards

I used to have a Mühle R89 and it was one the best razors I’ve had so far. Just got the old R41 (open comb) and am thinking of getting myself the R89 again as well, once the Pils is gone…

Thanked: 5I just finished my second shave with the Mühle R89 today, and so far it has been much, much smoother than my Merkur 23C. I have yet to get nicked by the R89 using the same shaving methods/techniques. The handle is pretty smooth, but it still provides adequate grip. The head is more aggressive than the 23C (at least it shaves closer), yet it is much smoother in shaving. Whether that's due to the "legendary" smooth finishing of the chrome - I don't know, but over all, I am very satisfied with the R89.
I'm using Astra blades, by the way.

Thanked: 74I am also curious about this DE razor. I currently own a Merkur 34C, which was the most popular razor on the boards at one time. The 34C is a nice quality razor, but I do not like that I have to fiddle around with the blade in order to have even blade exposure on both sides of the razor's head. How well do blades set in Muhle R89? For those that use the R89, do you find that you have to fiddle with blade to get optimal blade exposure on both sides of the razor's head? Thanks in advnace for any help.
