Thread: Favourite Part Of The Shave

Was just wondering what part of the shaving experience is everyones favourite?


For me it has to be lathering up for the first pass, I get excited when its a good lather! Also the moment it touches you face and you get the rush of the scent from the cream/soap.
I just tried the Taylor Of Old Bond Street 'Avacado' today and wow that is my new favourite cream!!!

For me its the feel of a properly honed blade (its cold and scary and beautiful all at the same time), second would be stropping (just love the sounds and action), third would be making the lather.

The time I grab the blade, definitely, but the whole experience from lathering to shaving is incredibly rewarding for me. It's my latest, most favorite hobby. It's no longer just shaving for me.

I enjoy all the aspects of a good straight razor shave.

My very favorite part therefore must be the very moment I walk in to my den, knowing I'm gonna have a grand old time for about thirty minutes, relishing in all the wonderful products and rituals that comes with a good shave

Agree as to enjoying all aspects of the process. That being said I think my favorite part is picking the razor, the brush, and the shave cream for the event.

I like that bit.... 'The Event!'

I must admit, thinking about it before hand what you going to use, should I go cream or soap or both!? It gets fustrating sometimes as the coices are hard to make! I wouldnt have it any other way though!

The feel of the blade on skin during the first pass. I had a girlfriend once who had long fingernails that she used to run very very lightly along my skin ....... excuse me for a few minutes.

The whole experience is a kinda ZEN moment for me.

But my favorite part is that first pass down your cheek where the whiskers are just melting off your face as the razor slides down your cheek.

The first touch of the blade slicing the hairs and knowing I haven't messed it up by stropping yet.

The process of laying everything out and picking what pandora station to play builds the anticipation. But I love stropping the razor knowing its going to be a good shave!
