    Default Tailor Made For Me

    Gentlemen,

More and more I find myself opting for the open comb double edge razor. This means converting some of my closed comb razors into what I really want. Thus far I have done well. Here is an example. This improvisation uses the Edwin Jagger faux ebony octagonal handle with the Merkur 15C open comb shave head. The razor is beautifully balanced, and the shave is nice and sweet. A classy razor, wouldn't you say? Thanks.

Very nice Obie and very classy. I too enjoy an open comb, but my son will shave with nothing else but his 30's era Gillette New.

When I shave with DEs I only use open combs, so I know what you mean. That is a cool looking handle on that razor btw.

Very nice. I enjoy DE shaves as well.

Those Gillette New Head razors from the 1930s are good ones. I have one in the barrel handle. It's relatively clean, too. They are good shavers, and a fine example of American quality workmanship.

I definitely like the combo. I used one open comb type a few years ago, but I believe I didn't give it a fair try. I only used a couple of blades with it, then I picked up the Mekur slant and ended up selling the open comb razor. I wish I remember the model, but it was from the early 1900's anyway.

I call my hybrid (Gillette New long comb with a W&B handle) Frankenrazor, but yours is far too pretty to be called something like that
