Merkur Futur and Feather Stainless...
Does anyone own both of these razors? If so, what setting on the Futur would you compare the Feather with?
For Example: Feather feels like 1.5 on my Futur
I picked up a Futur for the SWMBO and she loves it. Now i'm thinking about the Feather for myself for traveling.
Thanks all

They are both very different razors. I don't think any fiddling with the Merkur is going to result in a feather razor.

Thanked: 15I have to say that I use the futur in the setting number 6 when I used, dur to the fact I like very agressive razors. In regards the feather razor I don't like it due tomthe fact its very mild and I just don't like it. Eventhou you used feather blades with it. They are very very different razors you can't compare them.
thanks

The adjustable razors mostly change the angle.
Individual razor holders present differences in the angle and also the
exposure (slant too). Also the location in the slot...
So an adjustable may never match a fixed geometry razor.
A razor designed for a modern feather blade would be quite
different when compared with a 1940's DE razor.
I have had no urge to use my Futur after getting my MÜHLE head DE razor.
But that is my face and my face only.
I guess I do want to try the less expensive of the Feather DE razors.
Changing the topic a bit to make a point.
Do see the dimension related comments on the Feather Open Blade Razor.
The Feather "No-Sharpen" Straight Razor
The Feather "No-Sharpen" Straight Razor
Different thickness and exposure on this blade cannot be found in
DE blades...
Blade Thickness: 0.254mm
Blade Exposure: 1.2mm
.vs.
Blade Thickness: 0.31mm
Blade Exposure: 1.45mm
Anyhow the more I learn the more I respect those that make
these products and do such a good job.

I finally pulled the trigger and placed my order for the Feather Stainless DE from SRD tonight. Can't wait to see how it shaves!

Those of use who own a futur know that the adjustment simultaneously changes the angle and the gap. From my direct observations a setting of between 1.5 and 2.0 is visually comparable to the Feather, but the exact angle and gap is not possible. Sorry.

Received my Feather Stainless yesterday and must say....very nice shave. Paired it with Feather High Stainless blades.
Happy with my purchase. This will be my travel razor now.
