Thanked: 6Three new gillettes to add to the collection!
A yard sale up the street had three of these for sale, snatched them up for $5 a piece. Probably could have gotten all three for five since the guy had no idea what they were worth! (the flare tip next to the gold one I owned previously)
Wondering if anyone has any info on the two adjustables and the gold three piece. I figure they are all good razors so I got a new blade sampler pack to pick some out before I leave for school in a month. I'll sell one or two of them and completely recover my expenditures and then some!
the leftmost razor has a date code of F-2, next one is J-1, the flare tip is L-3, and the gold one I cant find a date code on!

Thanked: 58F-2 is a 1960 Fatboy from the second quarter. The J-1 is a slim 1964 from the first quarter. The flare tip is a 1966/3rd quarter......flare tip. The gold looks like a 40's ball end tech. Depending on the condition, you could get $45-175 on the fatboy, $15-30 on the slim, about $12-20 on the flare tip, and about $5-10 on the ball end.

Congratulations -- awesome luck!
Costabro hit the nail on the head, that's a 1940s Gold Tech (I have one). Gives a nice, mild shave.

Thanked: 0You are so lucky! I've always wanted a Slim marked J-1 (1:st quarter 1964), since James Bond used the same razor in Goldfinger (1964). I bet that one met James Bond's razor at the Gillette factory.

Nalbonen4, my friend Costabro is quite correct in his analysis of these razors. All are keepers, especially the coveted Fatboy. Frequently the Ball Techs have a crack in the handle just below the shave head. Check for one on yours. Either way, you are starting a good collection. Well done.

$5 each? Nice find. Clean them up, you've got some good additions there.

It will be hard to find a better shaving DE than the Fatboy, nice heavy duty razor that with proper care will last a long, long time, adjusts to fit your beard even if it is a heavy beard. I shave with a str8 but keep a Fatboy handy for quick shaves.
BTW, you stole those razors for $5.00 each!

Nice find. Both the slim and the fatboy are worth more than you paid for all three.
