Thanked: 3Anything you can tell me about this AOS safety razor?
I hadn't used my FROM hair shaper in a while as I have been rotating my 3 real straights but I am on a trip home to see the folks so rather than check a bag I just brought that. It has been biting and burning me something fierce and I am thinking that it might be a good time to switch it for a DE as my travel/in a hurry razor. I have a gift card for $50 at AOS and am thinking about this razor Cross Knurl Safety Razor | Get yours today at The Art of shaving anyone have one or the equivalent Merkur?

I love the way my merkur shaves. It has the same head and a heavier handle.
Im sure its a great razor, somewhat overpriced.

Thanked: 1195They look like rebranded Merkurs, or at least variations on existing models. Merkur is a quality brand name, but I agree they seem very overpriced. You're better off going through another wetshaving vendor and getting the so-called real McCoy.

That looks like the Merkur Classic 33C. That was my first DE. I loved it. I eventually gave it to my brother to use as his first DE.
It is definitely overpriced at AOS, but your $50 gift card helps. You can take the boy out of NY, but you can't take NY out of the boy.

Thanked: 1263It states in the description that it's made by Merkur..excellent quality razors. As already stated though you can find the same razor elsewhere for quite a bit cheaper.

Thanked: 18Yes, it is a re-branded and over valued merkur, it's always better to NOT buy it directly from AOS

Like henryconchili said, it's a Merkur 33c. I have a 34c which is the same head, but the 34c has a shorter fatter handle. It's one of my favorite DEs. As others have pointed out, you could find it 10 or 12 dollars cheaper elsewhere, but since you have a $50 AoS gift card, it is effectively $32 cheaper at AoS.
