    Default Under neck trouble advice?

I got an ej de89 razor a couple weeks ago and am starting to get pretty efficient with it except under the neck. My neck grows from the center line down the neck towards the back it is parallel with the ground here is a chart to explain it better Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1365028461.654263.jpg

Now I've heard to get the closest shave one goes with, across then against the grain and when I go against it isn't a flat service and i alway get a couple cuts. What do y'all think I should do?

I have similar issues and found that going at angle across the grain then straight back up works well see pic Name: face.jpg

really depends on how comfortable you are with the blade and if you can follow the grain.

Do you do the across then related then back up or is it more like one motion?

First I would try and stretch the skin to force the whiskers in a direction easier to get. Then it's just a matter of the angle of the stroke.

Red first pass then green on your final pass but like thebigspendur said "key is stretch the skin as much as possible to get the hair to pop up so you get a closer shave.

That's pretty much what I do as well. Same approach whether I use a DE or straight, a S to N pass, followed by N to S. This translates to 2 XTG passes, which gets me as close to BBS as I want for any given day of the week.

I have the same problem. I go against the grain but I use a much milder razor. The blade gap on the EJ or on the Merkur 34HD made for a difficult pass. I use a mild OC or a Progress set very low. This allows lots of flexibility for choice of angle of attack.
The tale is doon, and God save al the rowte!
