My question is the boxes of blades dont seem to have much information on, so im after info on the different types i have? i will post my selection here and any info, plus and minus points would be much appreciated. Also have i any terrible ones here?

I my experience, the Derby, and Astra give good shaves. My personal favorites are the Feathers, they are very aggressive but can give the cleanest shave i've had. The sharks didn't really work to well for me, but I've heard others praise them. Good luck on your journey to finding the best DE blade for you!
There is always a solution, whether it's already present or if you have to make it.

Thanked: 23Derby blades are not bad. That's what Jagger sometimes includes with a razor. Never have used Feathers. I am not in need of that much aggression. I have consistent experience with Wilinson. Inexpensive, easy to find at WalMart and the like, and they separate whiskers from the skin. Not exotic, but a pragmatic solution. Jagger makes a good product and stands behind it.

You do well to start with the sampler. Almost all these manufacturers use similar equipment and coating processes to produce their blades. I can get a good shave from all of the brands you listed. However, some last longer and some are more aggressive than others. My preference, after 36 years of DE wet shaving, is Feather. You won't find a sharper blade, and most of the experienced shavers on this forum rate Feather among their top three favorite blades. My medical background gives me a bias toward Feather, because they also produce some of the sharpest surgical scalpels on earth. That level of expertise is just not present with any other manufacturer of razor blades. I also use the Super blades in my Japanese style straight. It is the sharpest disposable blade available. Feather is Japanese made - need I say more.

I think the Wilkinson Swords are absolutely awful! I thought they were ripping my face apart... BUT that doesn't matter. LOL - seriously it doesn't. It's such a personal thing between you and your skin. My buddy swears by the Swords - to my utter disbelief.
When I was starting off with a DE, I took notes on all the blades I tried. Ultimately, I found two brands that I knew within a few shaves that I really enjoyed. I rotated between those two.
Happy shaving! Enjoy the Jagger .David

My dad swears by the Wilkinson Sword blades, too. I've never had much of an issue with them, though I've only used a DE once in the last year. I seem to remember Merkur blades giving a closer shave but being harsher and less comfortable.
I bought him a Merkur 37C for fathers' day which came with 1 Merkur blade (used before, anyway) a pack of black Wilkinsons (which are different from the white ones, apparently), a pack of Astras and two packs of Derbies (Derbys?), so I'll be interested to hear feedback on those.

No Merkurs in the list, so you'll not go far wrong.

Now Whisky,, why did you get a sample pack to try & now you want us to tell you which are good & bad???
You will find one that you like,,I use one blade from each & save the wrappers of the ones that don't perform well,,,so I don't buy them again. I love the Feather, first, Shark second,,,,still working on 3rd place.

Blade and razor combinations are very personal. Trial and error is the only way to find out what works best for you. Of you sample pack, I have used all but the Lords. My favorite of that lot is the Gillette Silver Blue. But, try all of them.
The tale is doon, and God save al the rowte!

Blade preference is strictly personal...most here love Feathers but they don't work for me. Try them all and see what YOU like. Good luck.
