Thanked: 0Monsieur Charles or DonJae?
Hi guys I am a big fan of the shavette. And is the style of razor I use all the time. I have 5 one of which I use all the time. Been looking recently at getting another shavette and came across the feather range. I would love to own one, but I just find them to be a bit to expensive for me. Then seen the CJB but I don’t like the Kamisori style.
So I have narrowed it down to either the Monsieur Charles or DonJae. Which do you think would be the better shavette to get?

MrDraper,
I know nothing about the DonJae, but at one time I owned a Monsieur Charles and found delightful. The razor is well made and the Personna blades designed for it sharp and comfortable. It's a small razor and quite maneuverable. The blades are small, too, but the razor the blade work wonderfully together. Good stuff for a straight razor with replaceable blades, and inexpensive.

Thanked: 1185Obie,
Will a Monsieur Charles take the Feather style injector blades or are they too long? For me, the injector blade seems a bit less squirrely than the half DE. The Don Jae is kinda spendy but seems to take either or.The older I get, the better I was

Monsieur Charles will not take the Feather blades. They are too long. It takes only the mini Personna blades in the cartridge. These are similar to the Feather blades but smaller and shorter. The mini blades extend from the razor's point to about half way down the blade holder.

Thanked: 0I use a monsier charles on a daily basis its a solid and heavy duty shavette. Blades are a bit more for this razor though since it only takes oersonna injector style blades. I also have a parker and its very comfortabke and blades are 100 a box for around 5 bucks comoared to 20 for 5. The parker is also a little cheaper and comes in all stainless steel which makes for easier sanitizing. However the parker feels cheaply constructed compared to the monsier charles, they have both held uo great though with frequent daily use, and the Parker makes up for its imperfections with its design the dimensions somehow make up for everything else this thing gives a killer close and smooth shave with little effort so u have 3 options now. Never heard of donjae and I am in barber school and they onky let us use shavettes so that may not be a good sign... plus the name seems a little iffy lol good luck

Thanked: 0Hi thanks for the replys guys. The only thing putting me of the Monsier Charles is that the blades are a little hard to get hold of in England. I like the parkers but i have a very similar style shavette with new scales on. So looking for something a little different. The DonJae are handmade custom shavettes that take half a DE blade. Maybe i will just after get both eventually
