Thanked: 1Schick Shavette
Posted this over Badger & Blade but thought I would try here as well. Won this razor on ebay today. I have never seen a shavette by schick. I won't receive it for a few days but I was wonder has anyone seen one of these before? Any idea what kind of a blade it takes? Looks to be too long for a standard Schick injector. Length looks more like a Feather Professional. Any help would be great. Thanks.

I've not seen a Shick shavette before either. How old is it? You'd assume they would make blades for something they sell (thats where the money is right? :-)
I have a Dovo shavette and it takes either long Dovo blades, or standard blades - it just has a different plastic insert to hold the different size. That one doesn't look like it has a plastic insert though. Guess you've found out by now!

Thanked: 1It has to be a re-branded Feather Artist or a KAI. Unfortunately I have neither to compare it to. Its solid stainless steel very hefty. It the closest shavette to a traditional straight I have in weight and feel. It ended up taking the same blade as the Feather Artist shavette. Bought some Feather Professional blades (regular not their super) and it was one of the worst blades I have ever used. I love the Feather DE blades but this thing tugged and pulled like no tomorrow, barely finished the shave. Not sure what the deal is. Maybe it was just a bad blade in the bunch. I'll try them again someday. But at $1 per blade I expected better. The good news is the Schick injector blade is just a shortened version of the Feather Professional. The two pin holes in the Schick blade lined up perfectly with the two pins of the blade holder. The holder is just a spring loaded cap. Pinch the spine to open it, load a blade, and let it go. With the Schick blade it shaved very well. Can't say hands down it was the best shave I have ever had but it close to the top. I'll definitely have it in my rotation now. I just wish I could find more information on razor.. age, is it re-branded, etc?

Thanked: 96In 1966 my barber gave me a shavette that took Schick blades. It loaded from the front and it 2 spring like pieces of metal that held the blade in place. To remove the blade, you would take the metal extension on the cartridge and push the blade out. I gave the razor to the program for troops through SRP. It actually shaved well. The Schick blades were not Feathers for sure.

Thanked: 351Shick straights with replaceable blades were/possibly are, sold in Japan (I've lost my link). It looks like one of those and would be able to use the Feather or Kai blades.
It appears the it is common to call all replaceable blade devices as "Shavettes" today, but when I started out, shavette referred to 1/2 DE bladed razors that were made from bent sheet metal, such as the Dovo Shavette. The razor pictured should be an excellent shaving device with a good blade like the Feather Artist Club blades.
Regards

Thanked: 6Lucky man, it as Schick proline. Believe it was never sold outside of Japan. It s a direct copy of feather ac and targeted at professional barbers.
You can still find blades for those in Japan on amazon JP or rakuten look for Schick proline P-20.
I have a couple of boxes I recently bought in Japan they fit feather ac. I think proline p-30 will fit, the container is 30 blades instead of 20.
Sorry that s all I know.
