    Default shaving my noggin

So I've been shaving with my Dovo for about a month. Never shaved with a DE or a SR or a shavette before that. Yet I just wanted to say that I am doing a pretty good job on shaving my head bald. I am noticing that I do need to take it slower, but I am getting a lot less nicks.

I've shaved the noggin a couple of times, usually don't have the time but I'm working it back into my routine.

I'm still shaving my head with a Mach whatever. I can do the top with a SR but the back of my head gives me fits.

For a long time into my straight razor shaving career I was reluctant to use a straight or shavette on my spud. One day it seemed to me that my fear was probably quite unfounded (removing stubble is removing stubble and location is just a technicality). I began to employ straights and shavettes for my Sunday haircut. At first it felt rather weird and very different from a DE or Mach whatever (just like when I first started shaving my face with a straight.) But after a while I figured out the angles and approaches that feel comfortable and again, just like when you first started shaving your face with a straight, it becomes no big deal.

I haven't totally abandoned DE razors for shaving my spud (or face for that matter) but generally I'm every bit as inclined to use a shavette or standard straight razor for my Sunday haircut. It just depends on what I'm in the mood to use.

Been head shaving since 2000. I used cartridge and DE razors until 2008. I switched to a straight in 2008. After one week I wasn't going back to the DE or blade razors because I got use to the angles and what approach works best. By the way I shave my head every day. With the straight my head looks like it has been buffed with a power tool.

Just curious, how many passes does it take to get, "buffed w/a power tool". I'm slowly converting the headshave to DE from HB sport. My SR technique isn't good enough on my face yet to want to venture to skull. It isn't the initial cut that bothers me but the time away from shaving while it heals!

Never liked my noggin to look like it was buffed and it never does, but it is smooth. I think the resulting buff/shiny look is a result of the products used or dry skin. I use Alcohol based AS, but I also use Thayers WH with aloe. I give my noggin a good scrub once a week with baking soda or face scrub stuff to remove any dead skin. (can't imagine any being there with a daily shave) but that's what I do.
