My first sucsessful first pass
I learned some from all you that have been helping me. With that knowledge and the correct mindset I a great first pass with my shavette. It may have not been the closest, but it was a great confidence builder. No nicks, cuts, or weepers at all this morning.
Conk Bay Rum in filtered water made a good slick lather. Pre-shave consisted a lite coating of lather and a wet towel heated in the microwave. After that it was like a warm knife trough butter.
I think biggest was the wrong angle was being used. I am not talking about the angle of the blade to face, but the angle of the razor to the face. I was pulling the razor out so only the tip was contacting the skin and not the entire cutting surface.
Y'all have been a great help to this noob.
Cheers,
John

Welcome to SRP jsuiters: It takes a lot of shaves to get comfortable shaving with a SR. Watching SR videos on youtube really helped me develop my technique. I would recommend the Lynn Abrams video, also search for the ten minute three pass shave video. These fellows make SR shaving look very easy.

Thanked: 15Well Gents:
I my personal opinion I use stra8ts but couple months ago I purchase a feather non folding and have to say I just loved. Its so smooth and it shaves like hell. I recommend those razors badly.
Thanks
Ken

Nice! Once you get the angle figured out things really start to come together. Dont focus too much on a super close shave. Focus on comfort and the shaves will get closer over time.
