Thanked: 4Ten in with the Feather DX Kamisori
Just finished my tenth shave with my Feather DX Kamisori, and life is wonderful. Unbelievably close shave and topped it off with my most bracing, burn-inducing aftershave (Royal Spice), just to tempt the fates to show me if I went too hard anywhere. I have to say I am on top of the world with this razor. It is such a pleasure to use and just wipes that hair off my face like nothing I’ve ever used before. I actually also bought a folding Feather SS at the same time but I haven’tused it at all and I’m planning to sell it and stick with my DX. I’ve been struggling with traditional straights for a long time and decided to buy this because I came to the conclusion I’d probably rolled the edge on my straights with improper stropping(I previously posted the “discouraged” post in the beginner section). I actually feel confident and feel like I know what I’m doing when I use this razor. I go slow and respectfully with it and it always rewards me. We’ve got agreat relationship. I’ve become excited again about shaving in a way that I haven’t since I started wet shaving with a DE over two years ago. The unfortunate downside (for my wife) is the re-emergence of gear acquisition syndrome. I love the kamisori form factor so much that I just ordered a beautiful one of kind western grind kami from Joe Edson. I'm going to concentrate on learning proper stropping while I'm using my DX. It’ll arrive probably late next week but in the meantime I also picked up a nice little Semogue Owner’s Club boar with a cherry handle to dig out my MWF with. A good weekend to you all and happy shaving!

I have to agree with your assessment of this razor. I have been using the non-folding SS version and have enjoyed it and just got through testing/comparing a non-folding RG. The RG basically being the same as your DX except it is plated brass instead of stainless steel. Unfortunately the RG is no longer being made and it was within my budget and the DX is not. Continued success with your new found friend.

I opted for the Feather Dx Kami early in my learning curve because the absence of scales made facial navigation a whole lot easier and allowed me to concentrate on things other than which way the scales should point when holding the razor.
I use the Folding Dx as well... it's waiting for a new set of scales right now. I don't care for the SS line for a number of reasons.
The Feather system blades are crazy sharp and between the Kami, folder and a Mongoose, I have a pretty good arsenal for days I am pressed for time. I can pull off two pass shave with the Feather that rivals a three pass + touch-up with a traditional straight.
I'll also share that the Semogue SoC is by far my favorite brush. I think I have about five.. birch, cherry and a host of custom handles with SoC transplants. If you like the SoC, you'll like the 2000 as well.---------------------------------------------------
