    Default Feather Artist Club SS

Hi all, I've been absent from the board for quite some time. Between working and being in seminary I've been lucky to stay afloat! At any rate, I recently purchased the Feather Artist Club SS, it's the one with the fairly simple black resin scales, and I have to say, I love it! I've used Feather DE blades in my DE razors for several years, so I quality and sharpness. With this razor I ordered the Pro blades (no wire guard). I can say with all honesty that it gave a perfect shave this morning. My daily driver is a Thiers Issard Special Couiffier, but this new Feather, in my opinion, was just as smooth, if not more so. Very happy. I travel several times a year to the west coast, and though I have packed my strop and all, I think next time I'm just taking the Feather and a couple blades. Hope everyone is doing well.

    NTK.

I agree, I use a DX (that is apparently less forgiving than the SS, but I liked the DX's scales better) on my travels and get good results.

New (Pro and Pro Super) blades can be quite harsh at first and don't reach best performance until the 3rd shave.

I have a Feather RG that I take for travel in my bike. That and a fresh feather Superpro blade and I have a great shave out on the road as I do at home without a strop or hone. I wouldn't give up my straights now, but if I had found one of these before I got into straights, I think I would have been done. Tc

    Gentlemen,

Right you are: the Feather is a superb shaver. Through the years, I have owned the entire series of these Feather razors, including the SS black and the DX, and love them all. I also have the Mongoose safety razor, and since both the Feather and the Mongoose use the same blade, the Feather is a winner for me.

Yes, the SS with its curved lip is a wee bit more forgiving, but just as good a shaver as the DX. I, too, take the DX on trips with the DE as backup. Really, every shave den should have a Feather. Good stuff.

Feather SS folder in green an fixed in black have become my go to's for fast no fuss great shaves. Excellent product. An don't waste the money on pro guards if you do fine with the supers an pros. The shave is still good but not as good.

I've been using the SS with their standard blades for a few months now and my traditional straights hardly get a look in these days. It's a cracking piece of kit!
