Nice looking setup you have there. I had a good shavette shave last night with my IBC shavette. Need to get a Feather in the future. I hear they are excellent shavers.

Excellent and unforgiving. Got to be 100% careful 100% of the time. Very different from a straight.

I agree. I like that it takes skill and concentration to be able to shave with a shavette. I enjoy my straights, but haven't got the knack of stropping or honing yet.

Man, I tell you what, yes honing and stropping are tough, but skip the honing and send it to a pro. You'll learn stropping in no time, the honing is a huge time suck. I can do it, have done it many times and I've brought many old razors back to shave sharp condition, but if I could have paid someone all along I would have. The problem is, when I started wet shaving, there weren't as many options as there are now. I have a guy here in San Diego that hones my razors for 1 dollar each. Yes that's all....and boy are they sharp. If anyone wants his info I will pass it along.

Exactly. I have a Feather SS and it is so well machined and designed, it's hard to believe. In my experience it is more "dangerous" than a straight, and less forgiving.

Absolutely right. They are no joke. I tried one, and ditched it. Not for me.

Yesterday I got in a DOVO Shavette from Amazon for around $26 that came with 2 holders and 2 blade, 1 short (regular DE for my Gillettes) and one long blade. I tried the long one last night and did alright, with only a little blood loss, but it is a lot more comfortable than any of the Straight Razors I have, and some are pretty new... DOVO, Wacker, Revisor, Gotta...etc AND I also have a Feather Plier razor in my wish list on Amazon for $86.00 and wondered if it is that much better than the DOVO? Blades are about the same costs, but what experience do you all have with the Feather Plier razor?

I'm very close to just becoming a full-time Feather shaver. I haven't found anything that gives me as close of a shave with as little irritation. Even my sheffield, straight off a professional honing, doesn't Measure up.
