Hair cuts at .5 micron and about .37 or so micron is all you are going to get out of razor blades (I'll get back on this figure) It's not how sharp, it's how smooth the edge is once sharp. When I used DE razors I always opted for Personna blades. I tried others but for me nothing else came close. Feathers may well be technically sharper, but I found that they were less consistent. Occasionally I found myself changing a Feather blade half way through its first shave because it was simply not smooth. I never had that with Personna.

I tried the Kai Captain Original and Kai Captain Titan Mild. Very sharp, but I don't think they are a blade for me. On shaving right side, doing down my cheek was good. Right neck, not so good. couple of pretty good nicks or "too close" and I sealed them off with some Proraso Gel Repair I got in from West Coast Shaving yesterday. I must say THAT STUFF really works and quick. continued on with the shave with the Captain Titan Mild on the left side for a bit, and didn't care for it either, so switched to the Feather Pro Guard I had used previously and finished out alright with it. Even went over the area that had been "cut" and finished it with that blade. Got all done, washed off my face over the bathtub with cool water and used a alum block I also got in the other day all over my wet face and I must say it really is the clincher for taking care of little cuts, weepers and such as looked pretty decent. I left it on for about a minute before rinsing off to let it work it's best. I have learned that using cool to cold water seem to work best if you have facial shave injuries (as I call them). betewen the Proraso shave repair gel and the alum block it looked pretty good, but wife did notice the spot on my neck. Later on I put some Udder Cream I get from Walmart all over my face. Great for hands and my wife uses it on her feet after a pedicure. Makes it a lot more smooth and adds protective oils back into the upper skin.

I have 1 more blade each of the KAI blades, but I notice on both of these that the cutting edge is a kind of blueish hue, like the metal was pretty hot when it what ground and sharpened. I bet looking under a microscope would be telling on this blade as I think too much heat was applied and ruined the edges of the blade, making it brittle and chiseled. Just a thought, mine.

Today I got in Geor. F. Trumper's Almond Shaving Cream as well as some blade samplers form Buy Individual Razor Blades for Double Edge, Single Edge and Shavettes that included the newer (I believe) Feather Pro Soft Guard blades that fit both of my Feather Artist Club razors (folding and non folding). After lathering up and getting the blade into the non-folding Japanese style razor I started in .. WOW!!! I'll repeat.. WOW!!!! what a smooth and comfortable shave. Still sharp as I managed to nick a little corner up from my chin area, near the mouth, not bad, but proof it is still sharp and gives a really comfortable shave. I'm sold!

That Trumper Almond shaving cream was spectacular as well. Smelled so much like almonds and put on a smooth layer on my face making the blade outstanding. Smelled so good, I re-did the face and with ATG shave with the non-folding Japanese style Feather A.C. razor. Remarkable!!
