Default Feather SS, vs DX, vs CJB, vs KAI Captain

I have the Feather SS, both the Kamisori straight style and the folder (both green) and a nice selection of blades. On Ebay I bought a CJB and should arrive Thursday for me to look at and try out (cheap). Now, however, I am curious on how these blade holders compare to each other? I understand the SS has a minor "ridge" near the cutting edge that appears to help with close, smooth shaving and a bit safer. Some of the blades like the Pro Guard and the Pro SoftGuard are great blades that are Feather sharp but allow me to get a really smooth shave in.

My curiosity was up and I bought a CJB as I understand it is similar to the Feather DX, sort of a wedge shape. The DX has more exposure of the same blade from the SS.... meaning if you have 1.2mm showing from the SS you'll probably have 1.6mm showing out of the DX.

If I try the CJB will it give me a good idea on the Feather DX razor if I want one? Or, how about the KAI Captain razor non-folding? Is it also similar to the Feather DX? There was not a lot of information about the KAI Captain for around $80.00. Has it the same features/dimension of the DX? Is it worth the extra coin to just buy the straight non folding Feather DX for the $134 ?

For what it's worth I don't like the SS models, the DX (and RG) give me better shaves. For me any light or guarded blade sucks, can't get great shaves out of them. YMMV. I've owned all models of Feather/Kai/CJB and what not and the only ones I've kept are the Feathers, they are just the most pleasurable for me. Mind you all others are great razors, just a question of preference as far as handling goes as it are the blades that you put in them that do the shaving.

I've tried them all and owned them all. I recently bought a Feather SS which I previously didn't like. I decided to change the scales with a set of wood from a straight razor. Amazing difference. It is now my favorite shavette. It completely changes the weight and balance which in turn makes it feel fantastic in your hand. I suggest if you don't like your Feather of Kai folding shavette, try changing the scales with a straight razor set.Name: IMG_0044.jpg
