On following your own advice
I often find I divert a bit from the advice I give to other people. I use a little pressure on the canvas, have never shaved with a razor honed by a honemeister and I adjusted a couple of power-tools in another thread. Must be my feminine side , but I guess everyone is guilty of doing so in one time or another.
One of the things I tell people that suffer from post-shave irritation, is moving the razor over each spot only once per pass. It is something I rarely do, because I feel I can get a better shave if I use short, buffing strokes or repeat light strokes to remove whatever I missed in the first stroke. This morning, I decided to follow my own advice, which had a peculiar outcome.
As I was focused on getting a good shave with as few strokes as I could, I think I used a little more pressure than I normally would. I found some spots that I can easily shave once and get a good result, whereas others need (an) extra stroke(s). Personally, I will focus more on pressure and less on number of strokes, while at the same time trying to gradually reduce the number of strokes.
What are your thoughts on the number of strokes per skin area and diverting from your own advice?I want a lather whip

Thanked: 177Well my neck grain grows left ear to right ear. I tend to lift the angle a bit in that area as it allows me to put a little pressure on. If I lay it flat, it sets you up for a cut IMO. That's only on the touchup pass from right ear to left ear. I usually shave as low an angle as still cuts. And I also find that multiple buffing strokes works best for me. It never gives me irritation.
