Thanked: 0My mother and friends don't really think it is a good idea. They think i will hurt myself. They think I should use some disposable razor ... A thing i will not do for sure. For now I am using a safety razor and I practice with the straight razor only on my face. When I will get used to it i will try on my neck and eventually do all the shaving with the straight.

I was just at Thanksgiving dinner, and a number of people asked me about straight shaving. My bro-in-law and sister-in-law, thought I was absolutely insane. He literally shuddered, and said he thought it was stupid and dangerous. I tried to explain that people shaved like this for hundreds of years, that if you actually watched it done, you'd see how straight-forward it is (see what I did there '-))
He would have none of it, neither would his wife or several others, I didn't bring it up, they asked if I was still stupid enough to be shaving that way...the SWMBO stood up and said she really likes the shave, that my skin was looking much better, and it was kinda cool.
Of course my 84 year father-in-law laughed at them all, he said it was a shave, not defusing a bomb, and that he hadn't had a straight shave in years. Now, he's coming down to our house next weekend, and don't know whether I'll let him anywhere near my blades??? Hopefully he'll forget...can just imagine...Phrank killed Grandpa!!!

Some wag said.."The very idea gives some folks 'Involuntary testicular retractions'." Makes some sense to me but then I like to try different things and enjoy as much of the processes as possible. My family is neutral considering the kids are due to inherit the stuff.
Snuff said!

Thanked: 983Strange would be a comment like 'You might put yer eye out', well not likely of course, unless you really are a bit demented, in which case all other comments are fairly valid.
My 7 y.o was watching me yesterday morning. It was fairly quiet as the other two kids were eating their breakfast, and so she could hear the sound of the razor. She said to me, "Daddy does that hurt?" I said' "If it hurt sweetheart I wouldn't do it. Does it hurt to get a haircut?" "No". "Well, it's much the same as getting a haircut, except a lot closer to the skin."
She was thinking that was a bit funny because a haircut that close would mean you'd be bald...Well...Yes...Helloooo?!
