Thanked: 0I'm very much a newbie but my wife thinks it's great. In fact she encouraged me to try it. My 14 year old son thinks it's very cool. He has always shown an interest with my brushes, soaps and other DE gear. He can't wait to be able to start shaving.

Thanked: 4My better half likes that I'm getting a better shave, and have less ingrowing issues, but she dislikes the fact I occupy the bathroom for 45min at a time.
Everyone else has responded the same way.... "Badass!"

I have had several people of late compare it being as "cool" as getting a tattoo. I have nothing against getting some ink (seeing as how I live near Seattle and have ink myself) but shaving is much less of a public statement to my way of thinking.
The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.

Family fine with the straight razors. It was when I started wearing a fedora and grew a 1930's style mustache that they started worrying about my sanity. What can I say, I'm bringing the style back.

My wife reacts as expected after 30 years of marriage: She supports me and shows a genuine interest in any new hobby/endeavor that I engage in. My son who's 28 is indifferent for the moment (he has a full beard) and my co-workers that know are both curious while thinking I'm a little crazy for trying it.

Wifey has surely seen me shaving with straight but has never given any comment. I like it that way. I guess she's not interested. With what does she shave with (her legs etc) doesn't interest me either. Shaving with straight -for me- is to get best possible shave, but not to get reacts form people i live with. My shaving is not that special. Just shaving.

I have six sons and not one uses a straight. I have a 7 day set shave ready waiting for the first one to claim it. one boy is still in the military so he can't have one in his possession. The others think it takes too long and they don't have the time. I'm thinking maybe someday they will smarten up.
